Breast Flap Reconstruction Gallery

About this patient
This 57-year-old woman from Phoenix, AZ presented with pain, numbness, and complaints of the appearance of her right reconstructed breast after her breast reconstruction with tissue expander and implant by another surgeon. The entire radiated area as well as failed implant reconstruction were removed and replaced with her own skin and fat tissue via a microvascular DIEP flap, which is what was needed following radiation therapy. She is very happy with her results - her pain has been relieved, her swelling in her arm has resolved, and she has improved contour of her breasts and abdomen. She underwent a left breast lift for symmetry and will undergo additional contouring of her reconstructed breast with fat grafting to improve the contour of this breast. She is shown here at 14 months post-procedure.
