Chin and Cheek Augmentation
As we grow older, signs of maturing inevitably begin to show on one’s face. These manifestations of age are not always welcome. Or perhaps you have always longed for that “strong jaw,” but you feel as though genetics had other plans for you. With a cheek or chin augmentation, you have the opportunity to hinder general signs of aging, as well as reinforce strong facial features and regain a sense of vitality and beauty.
With a cheek implant you are granting your features with a youthful, more voluptuous look, that additionally helps to smooth out fine lines, therefore putting off the need for a facelift.
These implants are made expressly for application in the facial area, come in a variety of shapes and sizes, and are specially designed to fit to the contours of your face. Cheek implants are more flexible and therefore they tend to feel more natural.

About the procedure
For a routine chin or cheek implant, surgery is performed as an outpatient procedure, using IV sedation or general anesthesia, which is delivered under the care of a board-certified anesthesiologist.
Chin implant – Dr. Andres shall make a small incision at the bottom of the chin, within the natural skin folds and shadowing, so as to minimize the visibility of the scar. It is through this incision, that the chin implant is inserted, just above the jawbone.
Cheek implant – For a cheek implant, typically the incision is made inside the mouth at the upper gum line. Dr. Andres shall place the implant over your existing cheekbone and then adjust as needed to provide a natural look. As the incisions for a cheek implant procedure are made within the mouth, there will be no visible scarring.
It is also very common for patients receiving rhinoplasty to choose to undergo a chin implant as well. In doing so, this creates an improved sense of balance to one’s face.

During Recovery
Once you are out of surgery, you shall be allowed to return home. The treated areas will be bandaged carefully, to facilitate in the healing process. It is important that you keep your head properly elevated for the first 24 hours, to minimize bruising and swelling. For a chin or cheek implant, you may experience some bruising and swelling for the first several weeks, and perhaps a feeling of tightness across the chin or cheek area. This is normal. Once the swelling has diminished the implants shall start to look more natural. As for cheek implant recovery, most patients feel able to return to their daily routines within a week or so.
