Enhance comfort and confidence

Labiaplasty, also known as vaginal rejuvenation, is a surgical procedure that reduces the size of your labia minora. Enlarged or stretched labia may be a result of genetics or simply changes over time, which sometimes causes pain during certain physical activities, discomfort during intercourse, hygiene issues, decreased clothing options, or a sense of embarrassment and self-consciousness. By removing excess skin and tissue, this procedure enhances the appearance of the labia, making you feel more self-confident with your vaginal appearance and reducing any discomfort or social awkwardness caused by enlarged or stretched labia.

Improve the appearance of your labia

In recent years, labiaplasties have become increasingly popular - decreased social stigma and addressing the issue has become more commonplace. While some women are born with large or uneven labia, many women find that the vagina has loosened or changed in appearance with age. In either case, our labiaplasty in Scottsdale with Dr. Lewis Albert Andres may address the problems that you face, both cosmetically and functionally with physical activities, clothing options, or sexual intercourse.

What does a labiaplasty address?

A labiaplasty is a cosmetic procedure performed to resolve labial hypertrophy (increased growth or stretch).

Tailored to your unique needs and goals, it removes the excess skin stemming from the labia minora so that it is even with the labia majora instead of extending outward beyond them.

The result is a more youthful-appearing and more appealing vaginal area.

Who is a candidate for a labiaplasty?

Labiaplasties are done primarily for aesthetic purposes. With age, the inner labia of the vagina can become more pronounced and extend beyond the outer lips. If the size of your labia is impacting your quality of life either physically and/or emotionally, you may be interested in learning more about labiaplasty with Dr. Lewis Albert Andres in Scottsdale. You may be a candidate for the procedure if:

  • You suffer from stress, trauma, or dissatisfaction with your vaginal appearance.
  • You experience physical discomfort during sex or exercise due to the size of your labia.
  • You can’t wear specific clothing comfortably, or you feel self-conscious doing so.

What are the benefits?

Labiaplasty can resolve minor incontinence and hygiene problems, increase natural lubrication, and restore a more youthful and appealing appearance to the exterior look of the vagina. Other benefits include:

  • Tailored to your individual needs and your condition.
  • Expands the range of options for clothing that you can wear.
  • Reduces discomfort when wearing specific clothing such as pants, athletic wear, and swimsuits.
  • It can resolve painful pulling or tearing of the labia during sexual intercourse.
  • Won’t affect sexual function or feeling, and may even enhance sensation.

What is the surgery like?

Labiaplasty is an outpatient procedure typically taking less than 1-2 hours to complete. Your procedure will be performed under local or general anesthesia, depending on your preferences and the directions of Dr. Andres. Labiaplasty may include trimming or the removal of a wedge of the inner portion of the labia.

As with any surgical procedure, you want a highly-skilled plastic surgeon to perform this surgery.

When an aesthetic problem in vaginal appearance affects your quality of life, it is critical to ensure that the procedure is performed carefully and correctly. Before the day of your surgery, you will have an in-depth consultation with Dr. Andres. As labiaplasty is a personalized surgery, Dr. Andres must know precisely your goals. Known for his highly natural-appearing results, Dr. Andres will go above and beyond to surpass your expectations.

How long will it take me to recover?

Our Scottsdale labiaplasty does involve some downtime, but it’s not long compared to many other surgeries. You should rest for the first few days. We advise you to use an ice pack to reduce swelling for the first few days, but after that, you should find that you can walk comfortably and resume most of your regular activities soon afterwards.  After approximately 2-4 weeks, you should be able to resume vaginal intercourse, vigorous activities, and enjoying pools/baths.

You can expect to see immediate results after your surgery. After a short recovery period, our labiaplasty patients report a dramatic increase in confidence, sexual satisfaction, and comfort.

Can I get a labiaplasty after giving birth?

Will I lose feeling after my labiaplasty?

Typically, no. Our patients often report the opposite—their feeling and sensitivity increase after the procedure. The procedure does not impact nerves and nerve endings. Any reduction in sensation is temporary after any surgical procedure and sensation should return quickly.

Will a labiaplasty affect intercourse?

Sexual sensation and confidence tend to increase after a labiaplasty, as excess skin and tissue previously causing chafing, discomfort, and reduced confidence are removed.

What are the risks?

As with any other form of surgery, labiaplasty does inherently contain some risks. However, it is considered a safe procedure that has minimal risks and complications. The main risks are bleeding, infection, nerve damage, scarring, stricture, and the removal of too much tissue. Choosing a highly- skilled and experienced surgeon to perform your labiaplasty makes it particularly important.

Can I get a labiaplasty after giving birth?

Yes. Several months after you have given birth, you will likely be ready and able to benefit from a labiaplasty. A labiaplasty will not prevent future pregnancies, though you will naturally compromise some results if you do get pregnant again. Dr. Andres can refresh these results post-childbirth.
